Age Percentage Policy
To keep team and group sections fair:
At least 75% of the team must fall within the stated age category.
Up to 25% of the team may be above the age limit.
Where percentages create a fraction, numbers are always rounded up.
Sideline Coaching
No coaching, prompting, or intervention from the sidelines is allowed once the music has started unless permission has been given by the event organisers.
Failure to follow this rule will result in a 3-point deduction per adjudicator.
School / Studio Representation
All dancers in a team, duo, or entry must represent the same dance school or educational setting attending the event.
If a dancer trains at more than one school or studio, their parent or guardian must choose one school/studio only for them to represent at that event.
Fair Competition
We expect all schools to enter dancers, duos, and teams at the correct level.
CUO reserves the right to move any entry into a higher ability section if we believe it has been entered below the appropriate standard. This helps us maintain a fair and balanced competition for all participants.
Age-Up Policy
When a dancer or team moves into a higher age category, they are not permitted to move down an ability level if they have previously placed 1st–3rd in that level.
Ageing up does not reset ability level progression.
Team Changes Policy
We understand that team line-ups can change between events.
If a winning team has 40% or more new members by the next event, and those new members are of the same level or below, the team may remain in the same ability level.
If the team changes by less than 40%, the team must move up to the next appropriate level.
Moving Up
Winners Moving Up
If a group places 1st against at least two other competitors in theregroup's group'section, they will be required to move up to the next level at their next groups event.
Restricted Areas
No one may approach the main event table or enter the staging area unless authorised by the event team.
This rule is in place to protect:
the smooth running of the event
the fairness of the judging process
the safety of dancers, staff, and equipment
Reduced Judging Panel
If a judge becomes unavailable due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, the competition may continue with a reduced panel of two judges.
In this case:
both judges’ scores will carry equal weight
callbacks and placings will still be determined through our scrutineering process
the number of callbacks may vary depending on the scoring outcome
updates will be communicated to teachers and attendees if needed
We will always aim to ensure the event continues fairly, smoothly, and transparently.
If you want, I can also turn this into:
a website-friendly version, or
a shorter brochure version.
